Spring 2024 Newsletter

Dear Madam, Sir,

Spring is awakening in our vineyard, now certified Organic since 2023. We are delighted to share the latest news from our estate with you.

At the vineyard : Planting work

Planting work is underway on the heights of our vineyard. 1.63 hectares of Cinsault, selected from massal selection, are being added to our varietal composition. Since March 2023 and the new appellation decree, Cinsault has become a complementary grape variety in Gigondas. The Gigondas winemakers took this initiative because Cinsault offers the advantage of being drought-resistant in the context of climate change. It should therefore thrive on this high-altitude plot (475 meters) on north-facing slopes, with dry and arid limestone soil.

Wine racking of the Gigondas Domaine Grand Romane

In the cellar, our team is currently busy racking our Gigondas Domaine Grand Romane cuvée, the final step in the aging process of our wines. This operation involves separating the clear wine from the fermentation residues (the lees) that have accumulated at the bottom of the barrel or cask during the 18 months of aging for this cuvée. The clear wine is transferred to stainless steel tanks where it will undergo a final, shorter clarification stage (about 1 month) before being blended and bottled.

1984 - 2024: Our sales cellar celebrates its 40th anniversary!

Our sales cellar opened in 1984. At the time, it was rare for winegrowers to have a sales space, and there were only 2 cellars in Gigondas. Over the years, the cellar has evolved to offer a bright, educational space and a private tasting room.

40 years of welcoming you, sharing our expertise, exchanging ideas and enjoying the company. Thank you for sharing these moments with us and for coming to visit us in ever-increasing numbers!

Winning awards for our Gigondas wines!

Le Pas de l’Aigle 2020

Our Gigondas Le Pas de l’Aigle 2020 has been ranked among the 100 best wines in the world by Wine Spectator 2023, the famous American wine magazine. More than 9200 wines were tasted to make this selection. We are proud of this distinction, which rewards our rigorous work in the vineyard and cellar. Available for sale now

The Gigondas Romane Machotte now comes in white. This blended cuvée offers an explosive aromatic profile, combining citrus aromas, white flowers, and hints of apricot. With a balance of tension, freshness, and a pleasant salinity on the finish, these qualities impressed the jury of the Concours Général Agricole de Paris, awarded it the Gold Medal.
