Gigondas
Romane Machotte
Terroir
Located around Gigondas, the vineyards thrive on Miocene sandy soils. This sunny terroir, situated at the foot of hills, promotes early ripening of our grapes. On the other hand, the limestone and marl soils from the Cretaceous period, located at an altitude to the northwest at 300 meters, bring a late dimension to maturation.
Winemaking
The vines are hand-harvested. Clairette is aged in barrels of several wines, including amphora, thus preserving the finesse of the sandy terroir’s tannin grain. Marsanne, Roussanne, and Viognier, on the other hand, undergo stainless steel tank aging, aiming to preserve the purity and freshness of the fruit.
Tasting notes
This wine embodies the aromatic harmony of different grape varieties and the blending of various Gigondas terroirs. It is characterized by remarkable minerality, freshness, and structure. It reveals complex and delicate aromas of citrus, white flowers, as well as savory notes of apricot.
