A step below the Le Pas de l’Aigle but still looking terrific, the 2016 Gigondas Domaine Grande Romane is a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre that will stay in a mix of new (30%) and used barriques for another six months. It’s not showing any big oak influence at this point, displaying hints of garrigue and ripe stone fruit, a full-bodied, supple mouthfeel and some warm, chocolaty notes on the finish.
